A year ago, few of Alsadaqa member sisters thought of starting Alsadaqa club for muslim children. The goal was to build an Islamic character in our children and providing them opportunities to follow Islamic act of sadaqa to benefit their families and community. Every month they follow one theme to share with club members and ask their ideas, how they can benefit their community and according to Islamic values what are our responsibilities toward such matters. I would let Sr. Erum and Sr. Farah write more about AlSadaqa Club.
Beginning of this year, our club start Snack Stand project. There were two goals to achieve, one to collect funds for Islamic school’s new building’s construction which is “Sadaqa Jarihya” and second was to teach our children how they can be creative and collect funds to support and benefit their muslim community. We talked to Madina Academy management and they happily supported our idea. They were also happy that their students will be able to buy home-made halal food.
Our club members were very excited about this project. We started our snack stand in February. In that month we sold lunch only two days, and respond was very great. The club members volunteered, students loved the food we served them, and school staff and parents really supported and appreciated our efforts. In March, we decided to have snack stand twice in a week. Alhamdulilah after nine snack stands we were able to collect $654 in our first quarter. Here it is important to mention this snack stand was first started from club member’s fee but after that this project had covered its own cost and this profit was after covering its cost. Since we started this project to collect funds for school building’s construction, the check of $654 was presented to management of Madina Academy.
Now we are almost in the end of our 2nd quarter, Alhamdulilah this time also our club members had collected a very good amount to donate to Islamic school. Through out the project MashAllah all the club members were not only excited, but also worked very hard to make it fun and very successful project. The school staff and teachers encouraged and provided us every possible help and support. We deeply appreciate everyone’s help and support for our club and projects. We would also like to thank parents, without their support we wouldn’t have being able to make this happened.
